Satu-Maarit Huhtala
Satu-Maarit Huhtala is a mezzosoprano who lives in Kokkola. She will graduate as a music pedagog in autumn 2017 with Sirkka Haavisto as her teacher. Huhtala has studied lied music under the guidance of Heikki Pellinen and Juho Alakärppä among others, and operatic working under the guidance of Hannu Ilmolahti, Sören Lillkung and Annika Mylläri. She has also participated in Mari Palo’s and Reetta Ristimäki’s master classes in singing.
In the spring of 2014 Huhtala sang as a soloist in the premiere of “Punainen” – a female choir composition by Kari Pappinen. In he spring of 2015 she played the part of Meeri Kiho in the premiere of the musical “Outolintu”, composed by Kari Pappinen and directed by Jukka-Pekka Rotko. Huhtala has also sung as an alto soloist in Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, and has taken part in opera productions by West Coast Kokkola Opera and Ilmajoen Musiikkijuhlat.
